Dressed in Overalls

overallsIn his lifetime, Thomas Edison built a manufacturing company and research laboratory, read an entire library, studied qualitative analysis, conducted endless experiments, and patented 1,100 inventions. He also developed the phonograph, made the typewriter functional, invented motion pictures, and demonstrated the first working incandescent light bulb.

Edison was fond of saying, “There is always something to do.” Ask for another assignment, read a few more articles, help a colleague with a project, or plan the following day’s to-do list. Obviously, that does not mean “surfing the web”, texting friends or playing on Social Media. Being busy and productive are two different things.

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”
