If you are stuck wondering what your next move is going to be, “What do you want to change?” is a much better question than, “What do you want to do?” – Ash Ambirge
If you want to change something or teach yourself something new, where do you begin? here’s how to break down the process:
- Identify what you don’t understand: This might entail Googling “foundation of X” or “beginners guide to X”…recognizing gaps in knowledge is the essence of deliberate practice. Yes, you may need to read that again to allow it to sink in.
- Have confidence in your knowledge: On the flip side, what do I understand? If you had to teach someone what you know, how confidently could you explain it to them?
- Ask questions: Do you truly know the difference between the important and the unimportant? With whatever you’re trying to change or learn, enlist others via trainers, tutors, mentors, or forums to help you gain understanding of the vital difference between important and unimportant. (if you’re lost, don’t feel bad. Send me a quick email and I’ll help you to understand)
- Do research: Identify the best documentation in the field you are trying to study. This may mean Googling “top books on X” or browsing the internet for resources. Don’t just take one person’s advice.
- Recognize that being confused means you are about to learn something: Learning exists in the gaps of knowledge. This IS the process of learning rather than feeling like a failure.
Have a productive week…
