168 Hours

168 hours

We all get 168 hours a week. Time Management expert Laura Vanderkam offers a few practical strategies to help find more time for what matters to us, so we can build lives we want in the time we’ve got. Where is your “fixed” time (activities that are largely unchanged on a weekly bases) vs. left over time?

168 Hours “Fixed Time” Example:

  • 40 hours a week working
  • 1 hour a day (5 hours per week) commuting
  • 8 hours a day (56 hours per week) sleeping
  • 2 hours a day meals (14 hours per week)
  • 30 minutes a day getting ready (3.5 hours per week)
  • 15 minutes a day bathroom (1.5 hours per week)
  • 120 hours total
  • 168 hours – 120 hours “Fixed” = 48 hours free time / week
