Thoughts & prayers for Pittsburgh.

stronger than hateThe events of last weekend in Pittsburgh were horrific. I’m not naive enough to believe that I have an answer to the violence that occurs all too frequently in our country. But, I do know this…we can do better. We can be better.

So then, what can WE do? I believe one thing each of us can do is to take a good long look in the mirror. Before we start looking to blame others for our current situation (as so many do…including the shooter), we need to ask ourselves, “am I doing everything that I can for myself and for those around me?” If the answer is, “no” then how can we change that?

In reality, most of the issues we get angry about will never directly impact us…thank God. We fight, name call, and demean others. To what end? It poisons us. It can blacken our souls. No good comes from it.

  • Nothing outside of us will change until we change ourselves first.
  • We need to stop blaming others for our problems.
  • What can we do to fix ourselves first?
  • What can we do to leave a positive mark each day?
  • Is your day defined by dedication to your goals, your service to others, love, and appreciation?

We all need to be stronger than the hate, negativity and nonsense…
