Make today count…

Over the last few weeks I’ve lost three people. The first was one of my wife’s daycare kids from years ago. He was only 18 when he passed without warning. Then one of my college tennis teammates passed suddenly of a heart attack. And finally, my wife’s aunt passed after an 18 month battle with cancer.

To many people today, God seems a distant or irrelevant figure with little impact on their lives. My experience of the last few weeks as well as the stories we find in Luke 12:35-59 each warnings to remind us that there will one day be a reckoning. There is a danger in thinking that Jesus won’t come yet, that we can carry on doing exactly what we like and that there will be plenty of time to get things done or put things right.

None of us know when our work here on earth will be done and we will be called home. Use what God has blessed you with today, for you may not have a tomorrow…
