In all of my professional life, I have been told I needed to be driven to become greater, more important, successful and make more money. These are not all bad aims in themselves, but our daily choices we make will most certainly be swayed by these ambitions. We all have a choice as to how we want to live our lives and what we want to focus on. Are you focused on making more money or on exalting Jesus? Is your ambition more for yourself or for Jesus?
Echo the words that John spoke in his heart: ‘He must become greater; I must become less’ (John 3:30). Ultimately, the focus is not on yourself – it is always on Jesus.
Our greatest ambition must always be to point people to Jesus.
