Have you ever been in a situation where you simply, let go? I see this at sporting events all the time. Seeing fans in the bleachers, all dressed up in their teams colors and wearing ridiculous costumes is commonplace. We see this at music concerts as well.
However, the best example I believe comes from children playing. They are so involved in the moment, nothing else matters. Have you ever had this feeling in your relationship with God?
In 2 Samuel 6, David danced and worshipped God in a very demonstrative way: ‘David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the Lord with all his might…’ (v.14). David’s wife, Michal, was embarrassed and ‘despised him in her heart’ (v.16) for his display of passion.
David replies that he will continue to worship even more passionately and boldly than before: ‘David said to Michal… “I will celebrate before the Lord. I will become even more undignified than this”’ (vv.21–22).
Has your worship ever been an uninhibited celebration? When your exuberance comes from the heart and it is a genuine act of celebration, you touch Gods heart.
Make time today for worship…
