Jackie Pullinger Once said, ‘God wants us to have soft hearts and hard feet. The trouble with so many of us is that we have hard hearts and soft feet.’

Having a heat of love and compassion doesn’t necessarily mean living a life that requires us to go without sleep, food and comfort as the Apostles did in order to serve others. God wants us to have soft hearts – hearts of love and compassion. But if we are to make any difference to the world, we must continue to do our part which will lead to hard feet.
Proverbs 17 shows us that if we have a heart softened by God, we will inevitably demonstrate love towards others. Our aim should always be to live a life that ‘promotes love’ (v.9)…to love our families, our friends, the poor and even our critics.
This love should also compel us to “walk the extra mile” (Matthew 5:31) which will lead to hard feet…
