One of the most frightening yet rewarding things I’ve ever done was being the chapel pastor for a Christian school. I’ll never forget the first chapel I led. It was a Friday morning and a hundred plus Junior High & High School students came sombering into the sanctuary. It was more than obvious they did not want to be there. I was so nervous and thought, “what have I gotten myself into.” As I walked to the pulpit the room became quiet. Everyone’s eyes were on me. As I opened in prayer, I gave God freedom (not that he needed my permission) to move as he pleased. I humbly asked that the floodgates of heaven would open up and that his spirit would literally rain down on us. Although I could hear students talking and chuckling, I began to feel Gods Holy Spirit.

From the moment we started our worship it became difficult for me to stand. Gods spirit filled the sanctuary and his anointing was on me. Students began lifting their hands and without being promoted, they flooded the alter. We never got to the message that I had painstakingly prepared…lol. Chapel became something the students talked about and looked forward to.
Gods ‘Anointing’ is not just for special Christian leaders, speakers or worship leaders. It is for all of us. We know that ‘God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power’ (Acts 10:38). What is so amazing is that the same Spirit who anointed Jesus, has anointed you. You are ‘anointed’ by the Holy Spirit and so am I. This anointing gives us power over sin, over temptation and evil. This anointing gives us access to God (today) through our worship, just like it did in chapel so many years ago. It enables all of us to proclaim God’s message to the world.
What will you accomplish today through the power of Gods Holy Spirit?
