Over the last year I discovered that I love writing. It took me 3 years to write my first book, “Living Life by Design”. It only took me 3 weeks to write two companion workbooks. My third book, “How to…Fire Your Mortgage Payment with a reverse mortgage” took me two weeks.
In my last book I wrote a chapter called, “What does God think about reverse mortgages.” I thoroughly enjoyed writing that chapter. Although God doesn’t specifically say anything about reverse mortgages, there are several highly respected Christian financial gurus who do. I balanced their advice with what the Bible writers had to say.

So much of our world is taken up with thinking, writing and talking about money, wealth and riches. The Bible has much to say about these subjects. It’s unfortunate that the biblical position on finances is in such contrast to that of our culture today.
However much money you may acquire, it doesn’t guarantee success in life: ‘victory rests with the Lord’ (Proverbs 21:31). Our society values those on the ‘rich list’ (celebrities, professional athletes, mega entrepreneurs) far more then those hungry and homeless in our backyard. However, the writer in Proverbs says, “The rich and the poor shake hands as equals – God made them both!” (v.2)
The way of true, lasting riches comes from ‘humility and the fear of the Lord’ (v.4). This brings ‘riches and honour and life’ (v.4). It may sometimes bring material wealth, but the New Testament is clear and tells us that it always brings something of far more lasting value – spiritual riches in Christ.
Today, put God first in your life. His plans for you are ‘good, pleasing and perfect’ (Romans 12:2). And ‘there is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord’ (Proverbs 21:30).
Trust him today…
