There is only one “I” in “Him” for a reason. It means, “I have asked Jesus into my heart to be my lord and savior.” From that moment on the “I” is surrounded by “Him”. From beginning to end, from ‘H’ to ‘M’, there is no longer an “I”, there is a “Him”. There’s nothing more I need to do. Everything rests in him.
There were two thieves on either side of Christ when he was crucified. Both thieves threw insults at Jesus. While in excruciating and mind-numbing pain on the cross, the Son of Man heard one of the thief’s cry for mercy and told him that on that day, he would see heaven (Luke 5:31-32, 12:8-10). At that moment nothing more was needed. The thief didn’t need time to read the scriptures, be baptized, join a church, etc. From beginning to end, from ‘H’ to ‘M’, there was no longer an ‘I’. There was only ‘Him’.
*Baptism is important.
*Reading God’s Word is important.
*Church is important.
*Service is important.
*Supporting your family is important.
*Being responsible is important.
As life goes on it is easy to be consumed with the ‘Important’. Work, the busyness of life, or even ministry can lead you away from the passion of your first love.
Do you remember what you felt when you first encountered ‘Him’…Jesus? Perhaps you experienced joy, peace, a new sense of meaning and purpose, and an excitement. Did you ‘fall in love’?
Today, put busyness aside…remember your first love and focus on…’Him’.
