I was privileged to whiteness the birth of all three of my children. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. The joy I feel is immeasurable. We will be celebrating the birth of Jesus in just two days. I can’t imagine what was going through Gods mind as he witnessed his son being born…knowing that his only son would willingly take upon the sins of the world and be brutally sacrificed as atonement for a debt that HE could only pay.
The key to Christmas lies, not in the details of the shepherds’ visit or the wise men’s journey, but in the identity of the one whom they came to worship. In Jesus, God became ‘flesh’ and ‘made his dwelling among us’ (John 1:14). Christmas is about Jesus!

It’s difficult to grasp an event of such magnitude and the significance of what it all means. In it we are reminded that ‘baby Jesus’ is also the ‘Lord of lords and King of kings’ (Revelation 17:14b). We are given a glimpse of the universal struggle between good and evil, as a vast array of powers and authorities line up against God. Yet we are reminded that, in the end, it is through the humility and self-sacrifice of ‘the Lamb’ that they are overcome.

*Stockings hung on the mantle
*Presents wrapped under the tree
*Classic Christmas music playing
*Family gathering for a ham or turkey dinner
The true gift of Christmas occurred when Jesus put aside the glories of heaven for a humble stall, and eventual (brutal) death on a cross.
Merry Christmas!
