The word “Legacy”, and the phrase, “a life well lived”, both gain more meaning the older I get. I don’t believe 63 is old. I still compete against 20 something’s in tennis. I loved the look a young man who is on a college tennis team gave me when he asked me how old I was…lol. Priceless!
I was recently asked if I could go back in time and pick a point to relive my life again, where would I go? I thought for a moment and said, “now”. Mine has been a life, “well lived”. I have no regrets and there’s no other place in time I’d rather be than here, now, with my 3 children, and 6 grandchildren. I can look back and plainly see Gods hand upon me…always guiding, gently directing, and always holding me the same way I lovingly hold my 4 year old grandson.

My life has made a difference. God has worked his purpose out throughout my brief history, and Jesus has been the centerpiece. All lines in history converge on him. As I heard it once said: ‘The hinge of history is on the door of a Bethlehem stable.’
History is ‘His story’. As you hear the news and read history books you get some of the details. As you read the Bible you get the big picture. In particular, the book of Revelation unveils what is going on behind the scenes of history.
God is the Sovereign Lord of history. But never think that we are mere robots. We are not being moved around like a piece on a chessboard. Rather, we have a part to play. God involves us in his plans. God works out his purposes in co-operation with his people. Your life matters. You can & will make a difference.
It’s my prayer that when the time comes for you to leave this world, you too will be able to say, “I lived a live…well lived.”
As we look towards the beginning of a new year, today would be a great day to begin writing a new history for yourself…
Start writing.
