I’ve always been a fan of history. Especially war history. WWII in particular. The world was being threatened by a monster. Hitler steamrolled through Europe conquering country after country. It seemed inevitable that Great Britain would fall. One man summoned the courage of a nation and stood firm against insurmountable odds.
Winston Churchill’s famous words, “ …we shall fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. We shall never surrender…” Churchill inspired his nation to fight, “with broom handles in the streets if we must.”
Have you ever fought for something you believed in? Perhaps it was for something bigger than yourself. How did that make you feel? I wonder what it would have felt like walking in one of the apostles shoes. To be hungry, thirsty, tired, beaten, scolded, abused, ridiculed…all for doing what was right. For proclaiming the truth. For fighting for a cause larger then themselves.
On of the most incredible stories in the Bible is found in Acts 16. Both Paul and Silas were severely beaten. They were thrown into the inner prison. Their feet were pinned down between large blocks of wood. Yet, at midnight both were praying & singing songs to God.
Across the street, or around the world we too are called to proclaim and LIVE the truth, in Jesus name. There’s a verse in a song that Steve Green sang, “As a candle is consumed by the passion of the flame, spilling light unsparingly throughout a darkened room. Let us burn to know him deeper and our service flaming bright will radiate his passion and blaze with holy light.”

Every day in our daily lives (wherever God has placed us) it’s my prayer that each of us will “blaze with holy light.” Whether inspiring a nation, being persecuted for our faith, or simply standing up for what’s right. Each of us CAN make a difference…in Jesus name.
Blaze today…
