Satisfying your deepest need…

A two minute read for busy professionals to start their day (Monday-Friday) with something positive, inspiring, and thought provoking.

I’ve been in the mortgage business for 17 years. For the last 10 years or so I’ve worked for several mortgage companies building branch offices, hiring loan officers, and staff. On more than one occasion I’ve had potential hires (often friends as well) engage in a negotiation to join a team I was building. They would give me a verbal commitment and then I would present them with a written offer, only to discover later, all they wanted was a tool to help negotiate a better offer somewhere else. If they would have been honest with me upfront, I would have been happy to help them.

Each time this happens, I feel used, taken advantage of and lied to. In these challenging circumstances, I’m comforted by God’s presence and his pleasure.

David had his challenges and worries too, like all of us do. Those he called ‘Friend’ betrayed him, as they did Jesus. ‘Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me’ (Psalm 41:9, see also John 13:18).

We can be confident, as David (and Jesus) was, in the ultimate triumph of good over evil (Psalm 41:11b). Know that God is pleased with you (Psalm 41:11). David’s overwhelming desire is that God would set him in his presence (Psalm 41:12).

Today, make this your highest priority. This is what you were created for. The presence of God WILL satisfy your deepest need.
