A two minute read for busy professionals to start their day (Monday-Friday) with something positive, inspiring and thought provoking.

When my youngest son, Bradley was 4 he developed a rash on his legs and back. His joints began to swell and he cried out in pain. We took him to emergency at our local hospital. The attending doctor examined him, and blood work was done. He simply couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He suggested we take Brad (immediately) to Loma Linda Hospital.
We drove down to Loma Linda Hospital and walked into the emergency room. The nurse assistant looked at Brad and said it looked like he had HSP, Henoch-Schonlein Purpura. A life threatening condition.
My wife and I were frightened, worried and angry at God for allowing this to happen. Brad ended up recovering completely with no complications or reoccurrence. In the midst of fear, anxiety or desperation, it is healthy to voice our concerns and grievances to God. God understands that suffering will cause us confusion and grief – he went through the worst of it for us.
In Psalm 39:1-13, David questions, and cry’s out to God. At the heart of the psalm David lays his fears, anguish and frustration before God, and we see that he finds the answer in his relationship with God. David declares to God: ‘My hope is in you’ (v.7). And his prayer at the end is a recognition that he depends completely on God for an answer.
In the midst of your fears, keep trusting Jesus – keep putting your confidence in him. Sometimes Jesus calms the storm as he did in Luke 8:22-25. Yet, sometimes he lets the storm rage and he calms you.
Today, regardless of what you’re facing, don’t allow yourself to be consumed by fear. Pray, and trust God.
