A two minute read for busy professionals to start their day (Monday-Friday) with something positive, inspiring and thought provoking.

Back when I was in High School, students were offered driver training. The school had a room full of driving ‘simulators.’ It was like being in a car. There was a steering wheel, pedals on the floor, blinkers, and a gear shifter. They even had a large screen to simulate driving. Once you mastered the simulator, the teacher would take you out in one of the schools, ‘drivers ed’ cars to practice driving. After the class, you were ready to get your actual license.
The day I got my license was indeed memorable. My dad had bought me a used car and I was eagerly out running an errand. While pulling out of a parking space I hit the car next to me. Steering in tight places was not something I was good at yet. I called my dad to let him know and he immediately drove over. I was a complete mess while the very kind, elderly lady I hit was more than understanding. My dad and the kind lady had quite a chuckle about the incident, all at my expense, of course.
Wisdom has been defined as ‘the art of steering’. As you go through life, you will need to navigate many tight situations that require great wisdom in order to avoid damaging yourself or others.
As we read in Proverbs 2:12-22, unfaithfulness is an example of a wrong turn. Wisdom will ‘keep you from making wrong turns, or following the bad directions’ (v.12, MSG). Wisdom will stop you veering off course. It will stop you ‘travelling paths that go nowhere, wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends’ (v.15, MSG). Evil may, at times, look attractive, but it always will lead to unhappiness and darkness.
Today, do your best to stay in the right lane. Steer straight, and listen to the still small voice inside of you. You may need to quiet yourself to hear it. Gods voice, and his wisdom will always take you in the right direction.
