There were times when I was pastoring where my income was not enough to support my family. We had to turn to government assistance…food stamps. At the time it was heart wrenching. The thought of doing Gods work but not being able to support my growing family weighed heavy on me. I struggled with why God would allow this to happen.
There are times in our lives when God comes in like a mighty rushing wind, while other times when he is silent. In both situations we are called to give thanks.
David faced many battles in life. In Psalm 18 we find him surrounded by enemies. They were ‘too strong’ for him (v.17b). However, they were not too strong for God. God rescued him from those that were too strong for him and brought him into a ‘spacious place’ (v.19). ‘I stood there saved – surprised to be loved!’ (v.19b, MSG).
If you are in a ‘spacious place’ at the moment, remember to thank God for it. If not, cry out to God, give thanks, and ask him to rescue you. And if any of your family or friends are struggling at the moment, pray that God will bring them too into a ‘spacious place’.
Today, remember that regardless of your situation, God will never leave you, nor forsake you. You can trust him in every situation, good or difficult…
