Frightened, Inadequate and Uncertain

A two minute read for busy professionals to start their day (Monday-Friday) with something positive, inspiring, and always thought provoking.

When I was a young Christian attending a church in the High Desert (Inland Empire of Southern California) our pastor challenged us to step out in our faith. He wanted to establish a Saturday door knocking campaign to invite families around our church to Sunday service. It would also be an opportunity for us to share Christ (soul winning). Feeling prompted by God, I volunteered. Each Saturday at 10:00 AM I showed up at the church ready for a “team” of church members to go out and invite and win souls. Each week I went out alone.

I freely admit that I was a frightened, inadequate and very uncertain young man going out (into the wilderness) with what little I knew. However, l had confirmation in my heart that God had called me to do this. Many showed up to our church service, and many accepted Christ because I was willing to do what so many were not.Gideon too was a frightened, inadequate and very uncertain man. That makes him even more of a hero to me…lol. It shows how incredibly brave he was to go against so many, as we see in Judges 6:1-7:8. Gideon was also sensible to check that he had got it all right by asking God for His confirmation.

If you feel prompted to do something bold or radical, ask God for confirmation. You need to know that you have heard God correctly. Often we feel a sense of urgency to act immediately but remember, God is timeless. A day, a week, a year or a lifetime is but a blink of an eye to God. Patience is the key. Let me say that again, “Patience is the key!”

Several times Gideon asked for confirmation. There have been times in my life where I had been unsure and asked God for confirmation. He has always been gracious to answer…but, it has always been IN HIS TIME, not mine. Once I received the confirmation I needed, and was sure that the path I was taking was indeed God’s will (as with Gideon), it was full speed ahead!

Today, if you’re struggling with a decision you need to make, ask God to give you both direction and confirmation. Then wait for however how long it takes for an answer. Remember, all things in Gods time.
