There are mornings when time just gets away from me. I’ll start my day at 4:00 AM and before I know it, it’s 6:00 AM. Days can get away from me as well when I’m focused on a project. With those kind of days I come home exhausted. This is not unique to me. It happens to everyone.
The key for me is to remember who the day belongs to. Have I committed it myself…in my own strength? (consciously or not) Or have I committed it to God and asked for his Spirit to empower me? It comes down to this…did I remember to include God, or did I choose to go it alone?Albert Einstein said it best, ‘There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.’ Think on that for a moment or two.
Do you at times just forget (or are too consumed with the moment) to pray, read the Bible or give thanks to God for all his daily blessings? Let’s be brutally honest. When things are going well, or life is simply in full swing, we can forget about God. Be honest. Am I wrong?
The contrast to forgetting God (or being too busy to remember him) is a life honoring him – one full of moment by moment thankfulness and praise: ‘It’s the praising life that honors me. As soon as you set your foot on the Way, I’ll show you my salvation’ (Psalm 50:23, MSG).
Today, as you journey through the day, you may have times of great joy or horrendous sorrow. You may be on a beach daydreaming or in an office working away. In every situation, remember….”It’s the praising that honors me.” Commit your day to Him. Choose to honor God in all that you do…
